Important Vox Meeting this Thursday!
If you are going on the 2010 Vox trip to Atlanta, this Thursday’s (10/28) meeting is MANDATORY. If you have class or something else extremely important that conflicts with the meeting, come by FAC316 to talk to Rachel Tanner, or email voxgraphisuf [at] gmail [dot] com. Otherwise, plan on being there because you might miss something if you aren’t.
Vox Trip Rides / Halloween Sale Prep
Some important things to accomplish this Thursday!
1) sign-ups for Vox Trip rides and hotel rooms; still need ~2 more drivers
2) sign-ups for Halloween sale (Oct 12-14th, 11am-3pm)
3) creating stuff for the sale!
Vox Trip Details & Possible Studios
Remember, this Thursday (Sept 30) we’ll be signing up students for the Vox trip. We will open up sign-ups in FAC 316 after the 3-6 class period (roughly 6:05) so that if your schedule conflicts with meetings, you can still go on the trip.
All you need to bring is a $100 check made out to Rachel Tanner. Cash is ok if you don’t have checks, but much more scary for Rachel to have to carry around.

Possible Studios/Firms
voxGRAPHIS Atlanta Trip
Yesterday at the meeting we heard from Rachel, our VP, about this year’s trip to Atlanta, where we will be touring the studios and firms of Atlanta’s creative industry. The trip is Nov 3-6, with the 3rd and 6th reserved for travel. We will provide our own transportation by carpooling, so start thinking about whether you’ll be able to drive, and which friends you’d like ride and/or room with.
The Vox trip is always a really awesome time to hang out with everyone outside of school, and it often brings somewhat of a catharsis (ooh, dramatic!) for design students. We get to see a variety of studios ranging from corporate to itty-bitty, whose specialty could be print or web or interactive. Seeing first-hand how these places operate gives student a better idea of what they’d like to do after graduation.
We’ll talk about the trip more next week, and in 2 weeks we will sign up students who would like to go on the trip. The cost is $100 for 3 nights in the hotel; gas money is handled within the carpool. Student Government tends to reimburse us for a portion of our trip money, so it is likely that we will each get a small amount back after the trip (however, don’t plan on it, just to be safe).
In conclusion: if you’d like to go to Atlanta, please bring a $100 check (or cash) made out to Rachel Tanner on September 30. There are only 40 spots, and we will be running this first come, first served. We may choose to open sign-ups a few minutes before the Vox meeting for the sake of those who have class during Vox. More info on that later!
